Anybody here use or have opinions on Kazaa for downloading music? I was thinking of trying it, but I have heard that there is alot of spyware that comes with downloading from there. Anybody have any other sites to suggest?

I wouldn't look for anything. The feds are watching this stuff and actively pursuing and prosecuting people that use peer to peers to download music. The feds did loose a case against one of the writers of peer to peer software's but they are winning the cases against the people who use them.
Incidentally I overheard some one at an adjacent table when out to eat who got caught and had to pay a $3500 fine.
There are several places that you can download songs for like $.99 a song legally like napster.2002 Electron Blue Vette, 1SC, FE3/Z51, G92 3.15 gears, 308.9 RWHP 321.7 RWTQ (before any mods), SLP headers, Z06 exhaust, MSD Ignition Wires, AC Delco Iridium Spark Plugs, 160 t-stat, lots of ECM tuning
1995 Z28, many mods, SOLD

If you use Kazaa, get K-Lite, and install it on a crappy computer. You don't want it on your primary computer.
I have it installed on a PC in my living room which my roomy and I refer to as "The Media Slut".
We remote in from our PC's to queue up serch lists and stuff. Works out a lot better.
And yeah, it's a huge resource hog (bandwidth mostly) so turn it on during the night or when you're not using the net.99 SS, MTI Lid, 3.90 gears, Hurst shifter, DMH 3" e-cutout

I use it to download everything I want. I never share my files, though just to be safe.
You might also want to check into a newsgroup subribsion service like EZ News. It is 10.00/month for ten gig of high speed download. You can get anything there. It is not really newbie friendly, though.
You might have a neighbor with a wireless router? Most people have no idea how to set up these securely. If you do, it is likely you could use a wireless NIC to obtain an IP address on your neighbors network. Any downloads from that point would not be tracable to your PC. Your neighbor would take the heat for your illegal downloads if it ever became an issue. I would, of course never recommend doing this.
That is my defense if I ever get cought... "It wasnt me! someone must have gained access to my wireless router and used my IP address to do it"Tracy

Originally posted by TraceZYup, Kazaa light K++ is the way to go. It is adware/spyware free.
Supposedly it is, but I don't believe it. That Media Slut in my living room is SO PACKED full of spyware/adware/scumware/etc. that it's hillarious. And the only app on there is K++, and there is no Inet surfing done from that box. Tells ya something.
Last time I ran Spybot Search & Destroy, it had over 100 bad hits come up.
insane.
I use Firefox and NO P2P stuff on my primary gaming box, and it is so clean you can virtually eat off of it. I like keeping it that way99 SS, MTI Lid, 3.90 gears, Hurst shifter, DMH 3" e-cutout

To bad an anonymous connection means crap, as they track you by your IP address which is included in every packet your computer sends out on the net. And yes im sure its in there as its how the server your requesting from knows where to send it back to. Good thing its leagal in Canada hahahaha

WinMX, preferably the older version. Supposedly untraceable, and it feeds off the Kazaa network, so you get just as many hits. I don't share files though, and they only go after people who share files. You can't track who's downloading a file unless it's during the download, but tracking who is hosting a file is easy."No, officer, that bottle is my onboard Halon system"

they are hunting down people that #SHARE# songs..not download
if u just download but do not share there really is not a whole lot they can do to u..but if u are sharing terabytes of music they will probably swell up on u hoping u will fold
if u dont download a ton of porn(be honest) most likely u will be fine the music i have downloaded has been fine..although a computer game i downloaded had a small virus i think
if u get kazaa lite or whatever on the main screen there is a link to trend micros house call..use that if u think u are infected otherwise just use adware or spybot search and destroy

If you do want to pay for your music here are some sites
All of MP3...the cheapest...they say you can get a song for as little as .04 cents!
Its a Russain site so they have different copyright laws there..but of the same American music.
http://www.allofmp3.com/
Apple Music store (this is what I use)
The iTunes music player is wonderfull (and free)...has the best reviews..gives you all the feature for free that others, Realplayer and windows media player, charge for (such as CD burning and playlist management). THe music store is incorporated into the music player ( makes song management easy). They have a 70% of all the legally downloaded songs so they must be doin' something right) Yes, windows users can use it too ( ME, 2000, xp)
http://www.apple.com/itunes/
Real Player music store
Dont know much about this one...looks new. .49 cent songs
http://musicstore.real.com/music_store/home
Dell music store
Very much like the Apple Music store (very suspect)
http://www.musicmatch.com/download/m...&DID=999994757
Napster
They are a pay per download site now(legal)
http://www.napster.com/
As for Peer-to-peer networks (illegal)
I use Limewire, seems to be better than Kazaa
They claim "faster than Kazaa and no spyware or bundled software"
