Hesitation under hard acceleration, 1995 V-6 Camaro

This is my first time posting and I am looking for a little help. My 1995 V-6 Camaro 5 Speed hesitates under hard acceleration in the 3-4 k rpm range. It seems to do this in almost every gear but I do not notice it when I am accelerating normally. It seems to just pause for a half second and then keeps on going. Can anybody give me a heads up on what this could be? I am not much of a mechanic but I do a lot of my own work with my father on the car. Thanks for any help you can provide!

If they have a lot of miles, plugs and plug wires would be good suspects. You would normally feel the effects in higher gears and it would idle and rev without a load just fine.

Thanks for the heads up on the plugs. I would assume they are pretty old because I have no recollection of replacing them. Thanks a lot for your input I will definitely check them out.
