  • Not another Hurricane

This is getting old. Another Hurricane on the way towrd Florida. We haven't even finished cleaning up the previous mess. Maybe I need to move to another state.

At least this time I'll have a generator delivered to me on friday morning. Last time roughing it was a bit extreme. Some places around here are still on generator from last hurricane.

This one doesn't look good. A strong Category 4 moving right towards Florida. Yikes. Looks like it is being predicted to make landfall on Southeastern Florida by Saturday. Stay safe Joe, and the rest of our Floridia guys!

I work for an Electrical Supply House here in Maryland (rexel). One of our stores in Port Charlotte Florida was completely obliterated in the 1st hurricane. We've been getting alot of calls from our guys down in Florida asking us to send generators and stuff but with the store gone, there is no where to store it when it gets there.

            Good luck with this one.

As long as the house makes it, we should be fine. I have several bottles of propane, one for a large turkey fryer that is perfect for boiling several gallons of water, one just for the grill and with any luck my generator arrives Friday Morning. All the cars have a full tank of gas and there's enough food for my son and I for a week. Last time it was 4 days before partial power was restored and we were literally the first to get power. Many folks I know didn't get it for another week.

There is still so much stuff around here that is still torn up, this is like adding insult to injury.

The price you pay to live in paradise..... that's not to sound callous if it came across like that, it's just that every place in the country deals with it's own weather problems.... most just don't cause widespread destruction like hurricanes do. the west has wildfires and earthquakes, the midwest has tornadoes, the southeast gets the hurricanes, the northeast gets the blizzards and floods. maybe we all should move to Hawaii? Of course the have vlcanoes.....

                  Price of paradise

I park my 91 RS outside every night with a cover over her. I break out in a sweat just taking it off every day. I live in Coral Springs. About 10 miles from pristene south Florida beaches. I am 4 blocks from the everglades, and it absolutely is paradise. My Camaro is showroom mint and sparkling clean every day all year long. The unfortunate thing for me, as I wrote is; I park my RS outside. Under cover, but outside either way. The weather guy just drew a line showing the current course of this monster catagory 4 mother f-er coming ashore due east of me. I am panic striken about the future of my baby battling the elements of a catagory 4, potentially upgradable to a 5, within the next 36 hours. I have 24 sheets of plywood that I am going to tapcon over every window in our house. If it were not bad enough knowing that my treasured RS has no where to find shelter, it took my wife and I 20 years of saving and trying to balance a clean credit rating to buy our house. If that storm comes on land due east of us, then 140 MPH winds are going to rip our property to a shred. I drove one of the first red cross trrucks full of food into south Dade county after Andrew. I saw what fgroung zero looks like. The roofing tiles tear off the houses and sandblasts everything in its path with 15 lb. chunks of flying concrete roof tiles. It pulverizes everything. Projectiles are what tear everything to shreds. I am listening to the weather, and they just said it is going to slam the coast due east. What the F am I going to do with my car?!!! Is this the price of paradise. On another note; I have full coverage, the insurance will give me the down stroke for the 02 SS I have been seeking opinions on. F it, I may just get an 02 SS out of this, Thats not to hard to take. Thanks for providing a forum to vent on. I feel much better now.....NOT!

I second that opinion. Try to find a concrete parking garage and park on one of the middle floors in the center. Do get with security though and tell them you car is broke and you will pick it up Sunday. Leave you contact info too.

                          PJ,

Obviously this storm is not going to be good wherever it hits, but if it does hit east of you, that's the best scenario. The east side of the storm is the worst because of the direction the winds are going. If you are on the west side of it, the winds are not quite so bad. Bad, of course, being a relative term when you're referring to a category 4 or 5 storm

I was planning on going to Pensacola for the weekend, but seeing as how the current projected path of the storm takes it right up the route I normally take, I'm thinking I'll just stick around here in Clearwater.

At any rate, stay safe, all you fellow Floridians!

Haven't had a bad sting here since Opel
