I found a guy on cz28.com selling a set of valve covers and a breather for an LT1 for $60. They've been powdercoated and "precut" for roller rockers. Let me know if this is a good buy. Here's a pic...

Steve, not everyone needs modified covers. Mine fit without a hitch with Crane 1.6 rrs. You might want to try yours first and if they rub, just take off a little metal. Remember, $60 is 20 six-packs of beer!!!

But as for your question, the deal sounds fine, although powdercoating might keep a tiny bit more heat in.

20 six-packs, huh? lol Well, as tempting as that is, I'm not a drinker. But I get your allusion. So, you think keeping mine would be better? What about a breather? Would that be a worthwhile investment or just a waste/problem? Thanks.

Steve, essentially, you don't need a breather unless:
You have a forced air induction or such a high compression, high winding engine that you are building pressure in the crankcase and the PVC system can't keep up.
You have lots of blowby (engine needs work).
You have oil leaks and want to see if they lessen with some extra ventillation.

There are some nice custom valve covers out there which have extra room for big valve gear, just be sure you get some specifically for LT1 that are notched where the alternator sits. I am using the plastic LT4 valve covers which sit on studs, but don't have internal supports, however I was originally running the stock covers with 1.6 rrs and stock cam.

Now I have taken a breather and stuck it in my oil filler cap by drilling a hole in it. There's probably a better way, bit it seems to work. Breathers should be on the front so when you accellerate, oil doesn't want top come out.

Which would explain why the GN has 2 of them lol. Well, a buddy of mine (Craig lol) is offering to hook me up with a breather for to replace the filler cap and is a screw on cover, so that should alleviate having to drill out the hole. I'm not sure, but when we hooked up his laptop to my car, TTS Datamaster showed the same lean condition on the left bank that his shows and I'm beginning to think that I've got the intake leak. Thanks for the help Kevin. As for the valve covers, I think I'll just stick with my stock ones...I like the look lol Take care buddy.
