Ok, All of my info is in my sig for my car. It seems like i am getting some cash very soon on an insurance settlement. I really wouldnt mind doing some work to my car. I will be definetly this winter be doing body work and a paint job but for my motor, what would be decent to put in? I have heard some ideas from Forged Pistons to other things. What would you guys do?

I'd clean up the interior. New carpet from ACC, new OEM seat covers and a bunch of elbow grease. It probably needs some trim parts replaced too.

Without changing the compression ratio, no.

I always loved Iroc rims on the 3rd gen. I liked the tall spoiler they put on the 92Z28s with the 16" RS wheels also.

Here is a car I sold a couple years ago. I owned it for 4 years. I think it looks awsome.

Tracez, I totally agree, niiiiiice! I just had to do some hardcore research on my Cam and i saw Speed-pro cam on the reciepts with a part number. And everybody told me they hadnt heard of that type of cam. come to find out from summit its a Comp Cam but a Speed-Pro 4000 series version.

Have you done any suspension mods? If you haven't then that's what I suggest. SFCs (subframe connectors) are a must on 3rd gens (and this isn't just me talking). There are tons of suspension mods you can do, too. SFCs, STBs, LCAs, LCA relocation brackets, panhard bar, torque arm, polyurethane bushings, tubular K-members, tubular A-arms, lowering springs, sway bars, wonderbar A.K.A. steering brace, adjustable gas shocks and struts, etc. And don't forget bigger wheels and tires. These mods can help you hook and corner better, and can, in a since, make your car faster. That's my 2 cents.

Lol i must be an idiot, i didnt even think about the suspension! I think i will beef up the suspension a little bit! I will also probably have all my lower end motor stuff CHECKED and then stuff like the rings, redone! Im also thinking about a better Cam and then once that is done i will make the engine compartment look ALOT nicer, then off to the body/paint shop.... any other ideas, and how does that sound.

Sounds good. Start with weld in subframe connectors and a strut tower brace. Those two things alone will make a 3rd gen feel like a new car.

The redesign of the 4th gen made the Camaro chasis 25% stiffer. Stiffening up the 3rd gen chasis is a great place to start.

im also really interested to see what kind of "times" i could get with her. After all is said and done that is. I should go before hand to and see what she runs now cause im told i should get mid to low 13s. Maybe im outta my gorge but who knows better than all of you in the F-Body community! The guy that is my mechanic races dragsters, and has been on ESPN every now and then so when i take it to his shop i will end up getting his opinion as well. His son Chad LeMont holds the record at a near by drag strip in Union Grove Wisconsin (Great Lakes Dragaway) for the 1/4 mile with 7.986 seconds @ 167.31 MPH! Maybe you guys have heard of LeMont racing but these guys know there stuff! All ideas are still welcome, we got a ways to go till winter hits and thats when its all happening!

I've raced at Union Grove. I'm in Kaukauna right now, home of Wisconsin International Raceway. I was disapointed to hear the track was closed for the weekend. I'll be back in Madison tomorrow.

10-4 10-4, im about 5 - 10 minutes south of Genoa City if you know where that is. we should hook up sometime up at Union or something.

BTW how do you upgrade the compression ratio of the motor?

The compression ratio of a motor can be changed many ways.

thinner head gaskets will raise the ratio
smaller combustion chambers in the heads will raise the compression ratio
Pistons with a dome, or less of a dish will raise the compression ratio

You dont want to raise it to high, though because pump gas will detonate and preignite if it is too high. Typically, in late model EFI motors most people dont mess with raising the compression ratio too much over what it was stock. There is only a minimal performance increase associated with raising it. The biggest performance increases are found in increasing the flow of a motor. An engine is basically a big air pump. The more air you can get in it, and out of it the better. High flow exhaust with headers, intake plumbing, ported heads and intake manifold all make good effective performance upgrades.
