  • Edelbrock vs. Holley (Carbs)

Which do you pick? I currently have an Edelbrock 750 CFM Performer Series Carb, but i am not sure if i want to go to a Holley 750 Double Pumper or something, would i notice any differnce? what do you guys prefer of the two? or would you rather have a demon even?

I would go with Holley but I'm biased because I have several friends that work there. This might help though.

thanks man, cause im looking into a Holley 750 double pumper or something, but i would need to find somebody to buy my current Edelbrock performer 750. EBAY is good for that sort of thing.

My father runs a 455 big block in his 1983 Hurst Olds. He owns both a Holley and an Edelbrock for it.

We have found the Holley produces more WOT power, but at a sacrafice to cold start and driveability. The Edelbrock is better for street driving and is currently on the car.

Now, I'm not going to say my father is a master at tuning a carb, so it could be his fault that he has not been able to get the Holley to work perfect for the street. It sure does scream at WOT, though!

I used to have a couple 3rd gens with carbed motors in them and both had Edelbrocks on them. They were so drivable my mom could jump behind the wheel and run them. One of them was a monster. It was a silver 1987 Z28 with Iroc rims on it. Under the hood lived a 350 built by Wisconsin race engine builder Rick Kipley. It had his secret street cam in it, Dart II Sportsman heads, Edelbrock intake and carb, Hooker headers and true dual exhaust over the axle with two mufflers and 2 cats. I had a bulletproof 700r4 built to take the abuse. Rick said that motors he built like mine dyno'd over 400hp. It was alot of fun!

I would recommend not selling the Edelbrock if you decide to get a Holley. You might decide to put it back on, like my Dad.

Hey everyone, i just wanted to say thanks for all your help so far, i dont know a whole bunch about motors, and my father doesnt want to help me out that much. Mainly because he knows the way my car is i can smoke his 71 vette (350 CI, 270 hp). He doesnt want to modify his Vette so when it comes down to modifing my Camaro he wants to play little to no part in it.
