  • Repair Shop Recommendations

    Hey,

I just moved from Chicago to the Bay Area (East Bay) in California and am in need of a good/experienced repair shop. My T/A is not passing smog/emissions. I took it to a Chevy dealer in Oakland and after a month all they could tell me is the car is not creating enough vacuum to reduce the NOx level. The car just has bolt-ons (exhaust and gear), nothing I see as a major contributor to failing as bad as it is. Any shop recommendations?

P.S. does anyone know the difference between cars equipped with a California emissions package versus one without?

    Thanks in advance

They sell stuff at pepboys(or any parts shop) that will help you pass emisions. Can't remember the name(there's a couple of different brands). You just pour it in your tank and it should help. The directions will tell you exactly what to do. Now this is only temporary so you need use it right before you get tested. I've never used it personally but i've heard good things about it. But thats only if you don't really care about the local laws.

P.S. i'm from delaware so i have no clue about any shops in cali . Good Luck
