I have sort of a question on snow tires..Heres the thing, i want to soon in the near future get performance tires and nicer rims but there is absolutely no point to do that before winter so i am deciding to get some real good snow tires and put them on my old rims and then after winter get my new set of tires and rims...So here is the question, what are some really good snow tires?

    any input would be appreciated.
    thanks

215-60-16 All season radials of most any brand.
I put 4 on my car on the factory rims i run in the winter.
Put some sandbags in the trunk when the snow comes and you'll track better than most SUV's.

They're the same height as the stock tires.
Thats why I use them in winter.

actualy, they are approx. 0.47" taller than your stock tire..which hurts nothing of course.......

im talking about vehicle chassis ground clearance. An SUV has way more than an f body. when you start bottoming out....your stuck.....

Mine are called WideTrack WinterTracs and they are 215-60-16.
They make a little bit of noise on the highway but it's hardly noticeable.
SUV's have a higher center of gravity and will throw themselves into a slide sooner than a well tracking low center of gravity F Body.
I've seen it happen with an SUV going sideways coming off an on ramp and giving it a little too much gas then sliding over 3 lanes and sideswiping the guardrail.
SUV's are only better at low speeds on rough roads.

You don't want too wide of a tire for winter because in snow a narrower tire will have better traction.
The sandbags in the trunck and keeping your tank filled up help a lot.
Never noticed any difference in my speedo with the same mph per rpm or so it seems.
