  • 1/4 mile time updates.

I went to the track tonight.

First the good news: My car is officially in the 11 second club AND my trap has improved to 122 mph due to the recent engine rebuild/ upgrades.

Now the bad news: My launch still sucks! I guess I just need practice. I would either not get the tires hot enough and spin them, or I would heat them well and bog the car out of the hole. My best sixty footer was a 1.8 tonight. My best E.T. was a 11.9 @ 122 with a 1.9 sixty footer.

What I learned for next time: Start the burnout in 2nd gear and smoke the $&&#! out of the tires, launch at about 4000 rpm and hammer the gas, engaging the juice as soon as im out of the hole. I think this will get me the mid 11's im looking for and maybe low 11's on a 125 shot.

Lookin' good!! You've got the MPH to support mid to low 11's. Just need to hook it up and keep the revs up. What tires are you running?

Might be getting close to needing a taller tire.

Maybe a 28"? I just think I need to heat them better. I was running my burnout in 1st gear and it was taking forever to heat the tires, so after my first two runs I started shifting into second and then the smoke really started pouring off them. The car hooked REAL hard, but I didnt give it enough RPM's because it took me by surprise, and I bogged it. That was my last run of the night, so Im gonna try it again next time, doing my burnout in 2nd gear.

Make sure you're completely out of the water, break 'em loose in 1st gear, shift to second, and take it up to 5K rpm for about 5 seconds. Not like I could ever figure out how to launch with the M6.... I never got it right.

THat makes me feel better.....its harder than most people think. It almost makes me wish I just built my 4L60E to take some abuse, but I love the T56 on the street......

Generally when you get into the mid 11s, a 2" taller tire will get you a couple of tenths. The contact patch is a little longer too.

You definately have the mph for a low 11 sec car! Nicely done! It is definately an art form launching a M6, keep up the good work!

Welcome to the 11 sec club

Now if I could only find the time to get my N2O tuned and make some runs myself...

Tell me about it.... every time I walk into the garage I get sick thinking my car has been sitting on blocks for just about a year now. Nothing wrong with it. It's only on blocks to keep the tires from flat spotting, but my work schedule this summer has been nuts. I've been to the track about 5 times, and always helping someone else with their car. Mine just sits in the garage.

All set with the 300-shot, and its just sitting there.

They make you wear a helmet this time, assuming you went to the one near genneseo? My fiance' was down there, i'll have to see if she remembers your running it.

Im not sure what my weight is, but I have not lightenend it a bit. I run with everything - spare tire, jack, full interior, CD's and misc crap, and 3/4 tank of gas (this time). So, with me, at 210 lbs, I would assume im near the 3700 lb mark......

ANyone have an educated guess as to what the car is making for horsepower?
