  • dual exaust on a V6

A buddy that I work with just bought a V6 Camaro. It has dual exaust with the stock Z28 tips on it. Was dual exaust an option or did someone add it later? The previous owner had added Z28 emblems and rims.

What's funny is that my neighbor down the street has the exact same setup on her RS. So I think it may have been an option?? But just a bit clarification, they have dual exhaust outlets/tips, not true dual exhaust.

My Bad. I knew it was dual tips, I just always say dual exaust and have been corrected before.

Yea, I know you meant it...I just wanted to clarify it before anyone lectures about how 4th gen f-bodies never came with dual exhaust, yada yada yada...

Yeah, it was an option on the RS...actually I think it was in the '00+ RS package.

I believe Y87 was the option that gave you dual exhausts and a 3.42 rear for the V6.

No, the option wasn't available until 98.

Also, the LT1 square tips never came on V6 cars... It is not uncommon to find take-off lt1 exhausts on V6 cars. Many V8 owners sold their stock stuff after upgrading.
