  • What do you guys think on this trade

I am know buying a 95 fierbird wich by the way i love and dont even let my wife drive it, anyways its white no t-top v-8 all stock except the stereo system. but i always wanted a camaro even before i got my bird.after my friend bought his camaro, i decided its my turn, today they called me from the same dealer where my friend bought his and said they had a black 97 camaro-stick. i havent checked it out yet till tommorow. i will let you guys know how it feels and looks.

but what do you guys think 95 firebird or 97 camaro, did the camaro start with the ls1 that year and is it more powerfull than the lt1?

The 97 still has the LT1 that year as well as the Rectangle headlights. I think the difference between the 95 and 97 LT1 was the addition of dual cats. Other than that, I dont remember any other differences. Anyone else want to help him out?

      ls1

I'd hold off for an LS1 motor, 98 and up

im privy to the 97 down to 93 body lines... and the LT1 is bullet proof..major mods are detailed and refined available. the 96-97 lt1's had 10 more hp due to dual cats and programing. the cosmetics and little things where perfected too....like drip rails on the t tops...stuff like that.

the ls1 is a gr8 motor..... dont get me wrong..... but im an ol thumper from the old school.......

long live the Lt1......with lt4 add ons of course......hahahahahaha

I agree with Ken on the LT1 vs LS1 issue, My main reason being that if i ever got up the money to bore out and stroke my motor, it would be cheaper because of the block. The LS1 is an aluminum block with sleeves, right?

Other changes between 95 Camaro and 97 Camaroinclude:

-new interior (the biggest difference I think - far more user friendly and carried until the 2002 year)
            -upgraded ignition system
-new wheels (carried through 99 year I believe)
-new 3 color tail lights (kept until 2002)
-OBD-II system to further aid in diagnosing and discovering problems with the cars systems (not good if you're going to do major mods, but you can convert to OBD-I if you want without too much headache)
-new exhaust manifold gaskets to help prevent manifold leaks.
-rods in the engine no longer hardened (not really significant AFAIK)
-there were some bearings that were switched to a recycle-able material, I don't remember which. ( also insignificant)

If it were me, and the price was right, I'd probably go for the 97 but there are other factors that are just as important and I'm not too familiar with the 95 Bird interior. In the end it really comes down to price, milage, condition, and what you feel looks best or are more comfortable with.

My vote is a split decision....... I'm a sucker for the Pontiac styling and the ease of modding the OBD1, The 97 has the dual cats and is a stick. Tough choice. Why not both?

              Long live the LT-1 !

Vented opti was new for '95 model year.

As for the 97....It actually has a total of 4 cupholders as opposed to the 93-96 which had one that was questionable for usage.
One of the 4 is for oversized drinks and is really good for holding a 20oz bottle or those super-duper sized drinks for you really thirsty people.
