    I am hopping mad

So I recently bought that crappy Cavalier, right? Well, I go to put insurance on it, and I find out it is going to cost $130 a month for coverage. My PAYMENT is $150!!!! I thought that was a little steep, but I can handle it.

    BUT...

...today the statement on the insurance come to me, and it was for $203!!!!!

Can I afford it? Yes. Am I going to? Hell no! There is NO WAY I am going to pay $200 a month to insure a crappy econobox. Not a chance in hell.

I am going to call my insurance agent -- and if this is true... it is good-bye to both the Trans Am AND the Cavalier. I will go back to the idea of the S60R, and drive one car year round.

BTW - I checked a quote for me on the S60R, and it would cost the same as the Cavalier to insure each month -- $210! How the hell does a $42K luxury import cost as much as a USED, domestic trashbox?!?!?!?!? This better be a mistake.

progressive insurance is the lowest I have found.

You must have a crapload of points. I've got full covereage on 4 cars that is less than $100/mo.

    Go easy there lead-foot.

That would't happen to be the price of both cars together would it? Insurance companies usually give discounts for more then one vehicle.

Man! I have 4 points and I only pay 190 for my T/A! Of course it all depends on your region and also how often that car is stolen. I think about a month ago the saturn was on the top of the list as the most stolen car in the US so that may have an affect but I would change comp. Are you in the military or if someone in your family is a member you might want to try USAA. There really good.

That makes no sense that a cavalier would cost as much to insure as a S60R, but if it makes you feel better, you can switch insurance policies with me and spend 280 a month. It has to be a mistake though, im sure something will be worked out, especially since they gave you an original quote on how much it would cost. Whatever you do though, you cant get rid of your ride. You dont even know the stupidly crazy things i would do to have the privledge of being shoved in the hatch of an '02 WS6 simply to ride in one, let alone owning and driving one. It's one bada$$ f-bod, and you know you will regret it once it's gone. Good luck with everything.

$2400/yr to insure a used cavalier? Call that insurance company, and if it's not a mistake, tell them you're taking your business else where. That may motivate them to work with you to lower that payment. If you've got a clean record, there's no reason you should be paying that much, even in detroit. I pay less than $100/month for my 97 WS6, and about $40-50/month for my daily driver.

If the won't lower the payment, don't hesitate to go somewhere else. Your best bet, if you own a home, is to insure with the same company that you have your homeowners insurance through, that's garuanteed to get you the best rate.

                          AAA.

Here is the deal, the policy is pro-rated for the remainder of the year on a 4-month policy. I won't owe anything come January and February. The policy renews in February, and then my payments will be divided over a ten month span.

But, guess what? Through AAA, it would only cost $155 a month for the S60R.

                          Current: Trans Am: $500/mth + $100/mth ins (in my Mom's name) + Cavalier: $150/mth + $140/mth ins = $890 A MONTH!!!!!

Depending on trade-in value for the two cars:
                          S60R: $500 a month + $150 a month insurance = $650 a month.

That is much, much better. I am going to Suburban Volvo on Monday to have my cars appraised. If the numbers work out, it only makes sense guys...
