Rattle Sound coming from under the car? What could be the problem? Exhaust?

check to see if the exhaust is touching the panhard bar, mine is doing that right now. Ihave no idea why its doing it now and not 2 months ago but eh.....

Might be the cat, I have heard them make rattling sounds when the pieces inside it break.

The wierd thing though, it doesnt always happen, only sometimes..

My grandmother had a rustang that the cat went bad on, it only rattled every now and then at first and then it got continously worse.
I actually dropped a piece of a broken exhaust donut down the y pipe that ended up worked its way into the cat, it would rattle occassionally until I got the chance to pull everything out and get the piece of the exhaust donut out.

Could be the heat shield.

Your best bet would be to get under the car and check things like the heat sheild that DJ Taso mentioned, also check for the exhaust hitting anything underneath, ect.
