  • Big loss of power... Backfire?

Flooring it in first gear, once I hit 4500 RPM it "chokes" to pull anymore. I thought it might be in need of a tune up. What do you think? Sounds like a clogged cat or crappy plugs.

Time to put on those headers and Off road Y, eh? I guess next is the headers and off road Y, plugs and wires.

Anything else I should replace while I'm in there?

Wait scratch it all.. Can I just get an offroad Y for this car? I can't find one. They seem to skip over the 96-97 years everywhere.

I'd definetly check the opti. Many times what you described about the loss in power around 4500 rpms is a good sign of the opti. How many miles on the car?

85K on the car. Think it's the opti? How much to replace that and how difficult is the job?

i had the exact same problem about a month ago and sure enough it was the opti. I only had 70K on my car so it very well could be.
