I was looking at torque converters (vigilate) and they have a single, triple, and 5 disk converters whats the difference?

If you have a real powerful car and want to do WOT lockups at the track, the multiple clutch versions stand a better chance of living thru it than a single clutch model. Just think of all the power, friction, & heat being distributed over many more surfaces. Ever seen a top fuel clutch?
