  • HiFi headends compatible with Steering wheek controls ??

    Are there any ??
I thought I had heard of an Alpine unit a couple of years back, but it was @ $500 or so ?? Any others, or any other ideas ?

They are out there but are few and far between. Kenwood used to make one but I dont know if they do now, alpine did and so did pioneer until two years ago. There are kits to convert any RF remote to the steering controls, if that helps you will have to do a search as I dont know who makes it but there is a guy in town here with a 97 vert that has his sony deck wired in with an aftermarket converter.

bah, just get one that comes with a remote control.....you can probably get one for a lot cheaper that way, and you have way more models to choose from as well

Are you talking about a 4th Gen Firebird? I thought Crutchfield had an adapter harness for them..... not sure, but it might be worth checking with them.

hey max. soundgate makes adapters for your car. basically it can take a number of different brand radios that work. which are mostly infrared signal carriers(a deck with a remote control). they also have if i am correct some that actually work directly with wiring that you solder and can work that way also. they are fairly easy to install and pretty easy instructions to follow if you know how to install radios. considering that our cars are the easiest to steal a radio from as well as install one helps the matter. you can also check out other manufacturers. a few off the top of my head are soundgate.com, metra.com, and peripheral.com not sure if any sell direct. but your local stereo shop. or ebay should have easy dibbs on selling you one and ordering it. or hit up circuit city or best buy. but you will pay alot more money for sure..since i used to be a roadshop manager for them for a pretty good while. hope that helps. any other sound questions let me know. Hope this helped you in your question

Thanks - I'll check it out. My friend has a WRX that he fitted with a SONY Xplod deck and remote that works well, but where to place the remote on the WS-6 console would be the problem .....maybe on the side, so long as my knee does not keep whacking it !
