My fiance and I are in the market for a used car right now. We haven't done any test drives yet, but we're looking for something for not more than $10k. We'd like something sporty and fun but still practical. She's favoring a '98 Sebring owned by a friend for $6k. I'm leary because it already has 120k on the clock, although a vert would be fun. I'm favoring a used Grand Am SE2 or GT. I've been reading some good things about them. Wondering if anyone here has had any personal experience with them.

"New" cars are fun, but I'm not looking forward to doing battle with a dealer. Car shopping is always an adventure.

You should be able to find a Grand Prix GTP with about 70 on the clock for right around that price range. I was looking at one before I decided to go the cheap route with the Crapalier.

Don't think you'd be interested but take a look at the sig. 118000 miles. Just figured i'd point it out, just in case

Yeah, I asked her about a V6 4th gen. The response was "We already have a Camaro."

I'd get a 1997 or 1998 Buick Regal GS. it has 4 doors, a very nice interior with optional leather and moonroof. Under the hood is the 3800 series II with a supercharger pushing out 240hp.

I've seen many with ~50K on them sell on Ebay for $8-9,000.

Nice cars. Very practical and kinda fun, too.

I've also always liked the looks of the Oldsmobile Auroras. I've never taken the time to look into them, though.

If the sebring has a 2.7L its crap. There made by mazda and have some serious issues with the timing chain/internal water pump. My mom had one in her 99 Intrepid and the timing chain went at 50k. Also who puts a water pump inside the engine? Its going to leak eventually they had to know that. But then again I guess you could question who puts the weep hole right over the opti? lol
