A major component like a S/C is not something you necessarily want to go with low $$$ on.
If you have any problems at all, you need a dealer with good customer service... one that will represent you as a valued customer to the manufacturer. There are dealers out there who sell for a fair price (not necessarily the "cheapest"), offer you honest shipping cost, an honest delivery promise, and will be there to help you IF a problem comes up.
There are others who will undercut the competition with a very low $$$ price, screw you on your credit card, lie to you about delivery, and suddenly disappear when the sh*t hits the fan. I have seen several of these dealers crucified on the F-Body bulletin boards in the past 5 years that I have been active.
I will mention T. Byrne Motorsports as representative of the best kind of company to deal with. I have no personal interest in the business, nothing to gain by hyping his business, just some great experiences in getting fair resolution when manufacturers (not the dealer) failed to deliver, and I'm talking major manufacturers like Strange ($2,500 rear) and ACPT ($700 CF driveshaft).
Think about it.

I was actually thinking of going with them when it came time to buy mine. I have dealt with them and they are great. Ive heard many great things about them and their prices seems pretty fair. Now my only problem is i want to run in the 10-12 psi range and i dont know what i should do to my motor before i go to that step. Any pointers??
I know ill have to step down from the 4.10's and go to 3.73's. Here is what i have done motor wise - LT4 HOT cam kit with 1.6 rr's, GMPP CAI, MAF ends, Headers and 3" catback.

Your stock bottom end isn't going to like 10-12# boost. I think you will find some people that say the Powerdyne 4.5# setup is a good limit, others have gone with 6# ATI or Vortech's, and a few brave souls have pushed it to 8#.
There is a guy with a stock bottom end that just broke into the 9's.... so maybe I'm overly conservative. Maybe you just push it as hard as you can, and hope that when something fails it doesn't take the entire block with it.
A 383 with good heads, cam, exhaust and tuning will make 500flywheel HP. I've seen NA 383's make over 600flywheel, but that's generally not a street friendly setup. 383 with a 15# blower and you'll make 800HP.
Maybe the best approach is start with a good port job on your LT1 heads. you can always keep them for later improvements, and upgrade for the 383.Fred

You have to determine what you're looking to get out of a supercharger before deciding on which brand and what price. I was looking for something that was inexpensive, didn't tap into the car's oiling system, was a somewhat easy installation and was quiet. I got in on a group purchase through T Byrne years ago for a Powerdyne supercharger. I installed it myself which wasn't too hard and I put over 40K miles on the supercharger before selling my car. I never had any problems, but then I never raced it either. I've heard horror stories from people who had Powerdynes, but I've also heard bad experiences from ATI, Vortech and Paxton so it's really a toss up.69 Z28 with JL8 factory 4 wheel disc brakes, crossram, transistor ignition, radio delete, heater delete - being restored
