Regarding M1, do a search on camaroz28.com. To summarize what you'll find regarding Mobil, here's a bit of info. An oil analysis was conducted after an oil change was due with 5w30 M1. The weight of the oil turned out to be much less than 30, closer to a 20 weight. That is far too thin for our LT1s. I think I recall seeing the wear analysis showed only adequate results. Similar results were present for 10w30. It has been suggested, if you are going to use M1, use the 0w40 formula, which is thicker (when hot) than the 10w30. Also, the German Castrol Syntec 0w30 (not American made Syntec) had really good analysis results after 6k. The wear levels were VERY low, as this "true synthetic" oil is supposedly a really good product.

Now I'm no oil expert, and this is just what I've read as far as non-biased analysis...I have no idea how truly accurate they are, but it can give a general clue on each product.
