95 Firebird Subtle Mods Help!

I own a completely stock automatic 95 3.4L V6 Firebird, with what i believe to be a puny 160-HP engine. I would very much like to perform several modifications to improve the horsepower/gas mileage of my car without draining my bank account too much. I am entirely new to the car modification/enhancement scene a you can tell, and I was just weeking some useful pointers.
