  • First track times

When to the track today for the first time and it was tons of fun... However, i dont think i did so well.
First run of the day-13.99 with a 108.89 trap speed but my 60 was horrible at 2.5
I pretty much stunk up the track with my 60 foot times all day but on my last run of the day i managed to pull a 2.1 60 for a 13.5 @ 106.48. I dunno but my friend says that with my consistantly trapping in the 106 range i should be at about 13.3 or 13.4. Any input from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry officer, im not speeding... Im qualifying

i think you deffinitly should be getting better E.T.'s since i run a consitant 13.6 at 101-102 mph.

First, what tires are you running? Second, better launches with the T-56 will yield much better times. Not trying to rude, but launching the T-56 is an art and a science, not just footwork. How long have you been working with the T-56? The trick I've heard and found is some feathering. From my guess, are you lighting the tires out of the hole (at least on the first run)? If you're looking for mods to help, try a new rear sway bar (a bigger unit will actually help with torque distribution) and a new torque arm. Spohn units are pretty good (I see you've already got some of their stuff ). Just keep working at it, you'll get it man. Good luck and take care.

That trap at 108.89 could push you into the 12s if you hooked up. And what steve said launching the t56 is rough. Did you heat up your tires or try taking the pressure down some in the rears? What rpm did you launch at? I've never driven a f-body with 4.10s but I'm guessing thats putting alot of power down for street tires. You look like you have a really strong setup just need a little work on the launching. There are a lot of different things you can do to launch better but the main thing is just practicing to get better. My first run in my car was a 15.4 and the worst part was there was a mustang in the other lane. It just takes some practice and usually running at the track seems to be harder to launch than doing it on the street.

The 108.89 is definitely a sign of enough power getting to the ground to earn you a 12 sec run but with a 2.5 shortime seems weird but not impossible. Even the consistant 106 trap speed should fetch you bottom 13's.

If you are running street tires (not a DR), drive around the water box and don't heat them at all. A heated street tire will actually provide less traction due to the compounds it is made from. You could also try dropping the tire pressure in the rear tires to around 20 psi for a little better bite. This might slightly lower your trap speed from the extra rolling resistance but your ET should come down some.

Thanks for the input guys, i am running a street tire with the 4.10s they are the F1 supercars from the z06 but its on an 18 inch rim so i think that is really hurtin my short times. Also i have only had the T-56 for two years now and this is my first time at the track with it so i guess i have to practice. And Kevin, i did drop my psi to 20 and that netted me my best short time of the day. But thanx again for all of your help.

Fabe, remember the green '95 T/A for sale that wanted $12,500.00? When I left the track, I saw it on the side of 294 with his hazards on and his hood popped up. Lmao

The only way a 95 could fetch that price is if it is something like a convertible, with a T56 and has less than 40K on it. It would need to be a pretty special car.

                      Tracey,

It was a '95 dark green T/A with a new piant job. It had 65k miles with a gear, a couple bolt ons, and a torque converter. There were a few more, but I can't remember them because I was too busy laughing at the price.

The mods and paint add zero to its value. Value is based on year, miles and overall condition.

KBB put it at $6970 private party value. That assumes the best condition rating, leather, t-tops, Bose radio, power seat, no major defects....

I would had been laughing too.
He'll be lucky to get $7,000 for it!

My old 95 used to run 13.7 with nothing but a K&N FIPK, a Borla catback and an underdrive pulley.

If your car has 4.10s and headers, you should be in the low 13s.

It was powered loaded with everything including leather and T-tops. And you're right about the $7k part, if he even gets that much.
