  • Diagnostics Cable

I am going to buy a cable to hook from my laptop to my car. Is there anywhere other than AKM cables to buy one? I looked there and its 95 dollars. That seems a little steep for just a cable. Can you get on off e-bay? What would you search for?

I think you get what you pay for. I bought the cheap $45 (shipped) one on ebay, and it works great with some software...but others, it won't work at all. For example, here's what it works/doesn't work on:
    My '94 TA:
    Freescan: works perfectly
TTS Datamaster: reads the cable, but cannot communicate with the PCM

    Steve93Z's 93:
    Freescan: doesn't work at all
    TTS Datamaster: works perfectly

I've never tried programming with it, but all I need it for is diagnostics. Freescan gives great readings, which is why I'm happy with the cable. Here's the link:
