  • Track times and not happy

Went to track on Sunday with DJ Taso and LT1maroand i did 4 passes cuz i need a helmet after i did my sub 14 passes.

    First Run:
    R/T .414
    60 2.181
    1/8 9.077
    MPH 78.39
    1/4 14.057

    Second Run
    R/T .368
    60 2.040
    1/8 8.861
    MPH 78.83
    1/4 13.842
    MPH 98.63

    Third Run
    R/T .703
    60 2.214
    1/8 9.196
    MPH 77.55
    1/4 14.215
    MPH 96.49

    Last Run
    R/T .753
    60. 2.198
    1/8 8.972
    MPH 79.16
    1/4 13.905

Im upset with these times because the last time the car was at the track it was bone stock to the paper air filter. I did a 14.0 @ 99mph and that was with 2.73 gears. I was hping for 13.5 with all my new mods. I thought a CAI was good for .1 or .2 and the gear for .2 or .3 atleast. Why did I trap at the same mph? These were even better conditions that last time. It was like 43 degrees or so i think . Even with the nittos on I could feel the car slip out a little on the 1st to 2nd shift. Any ideas.

dude thats bogus they told you to wear a helmet. Me and my buddies were running all day below 13.99s and they said nothing to us.

Your 60 foot times are decent, especially the 2.0. Your MPH is awfully low though. You might have lost a tick of RWHP with the gear swap, but it should be over 100 with your mods. The CAI is good for ~10 hp or 1 mph, and the cutout...I guess it depends on where it is.
Do you notice a drop/loss in power during the runs? When's the last time you changed your plugs/wires? Are those the same wheels you used on the bone stock runs previously?

It just looks like he didn't included his 1/4 mile trap speeds on the first and last run. The other MPH he included is his 1/8 mile speed. The 98.63 MPH run indicates that your car is probably capable of at least a 13.60.

OOps the mph for the first run was 97.75 and the last run was 98.66. I didnt know what was going on. The car seemed stronger than ever. My plugs and wires were changed about 1 year ago. I was finishing the 1/4 mile in 3rd gear right around 4400 rpm's. The 14.2 time was a pass with the transmission shifting on its own. All the other times i was shifting 5800. Man this has been bothering me ever since i got home from the track, i know the car has a 13.6 in her. GRRRRR

              HP from MPH (1/4 mile) = WEIGHT * (MPH/234)^3

              and

              ET from HP (1/4 mile) = (WEIGHT / HP)^.333 * 5.825

Also take a look over on the timeslip database on ls1tech. There are plenty of people running in the 13.60 range with 98-99 MPH trap speeds.
