There are quite a few wolfdogs here in Alberta. They look scary but most are more cautious of us than we are of them. My best friend had one till last year when it got sick and died. I love them they look so cool, and damn are they smart!

I wasn't all too familiar with wolfdogs until pretty recently. My buddy's dad lives in downstate illinois, and 2 weeks ago i went there with my friend to put in a new fuel pump. When i get to his new house, i swear i thought i was in ace ventura's house. Snakes, rats, squirrels, dogs, cats, everything you can imagine. And then i saw dakota, haven't seen him since he was 2 months old. Dakota is half wolf, half malmute (sp?). I must say, a beautiful animal. Probably one of the most beautiful pet i have ever seen anyone own. He is now 2 years old, and man he's big! When he gets to know you, he'll come up to you, get on his hind legs, and rest his front paws on your shoulder as you are standing up ! I myself am just shy under 6 feet tall, and this beast is almost eye to eye with me when he does that! I will say, he did grow on me. Wolfdogs are definitely going to be a pet of choice when i'm older and have my own place. I will say though, the funny thing about Dakota is that when you first go in to the house, you see him and there is no doubt in your mind that if this animal wanted to, he could maul you; and what does he do? He barks at you from a little bit of a distance, and if you go near him, he back away. He's actually scared of new people (that's the ones that are welcomed in by the family, he does not let anyone tresspass on to his territory when hes in the yard). Absolutely beautiful animal though, i wish i had some pictures to post.
