Absolutly horrible crash, looked like he lost control and drove straight into a tree at well over 100 mph. The tree he ran into made it all the through the car to the back seat. What was he pursuing? A late model sport bike that was racing a porsche 911 down I-4 at speeds estimated by witnesses to be 140. The news report listed his car as a patrol car capable of top speeds of 165 mph and can go from a standing start to 100 miles an hour in 14 seconds. Several annonymous patrolmen are quoted as saying "these cars are too quick, too fast" for the one day worth of 'specialized training' they have to receive to get these cars; many patrolmen have turned away from the oppurtunity to drive the 2002 Z28s and have said they are too dangerous for the road. High-speed 'floating' may have been a major contributer to the crash.
Incidentally, the driver of the porsche, which at this time still can not be found, will not be charged with anything because he turned off of I-4 the exit before Trooper Graham engaged the bike. The driver of the bike is being held on 2nd degree fleeing and eluding charges - for now.
The pictures of that car wrapped around the tree - I wish every street racing kid with ANY kind of car could see them. If State Troopers with years and years and years of intense experience hanlding their cars can have accidents, so can you. Be careful all.
