  • Question about OBD connectors.

OK I have been looking at things like the Auto Tap programming unit. It saids it needs an OBD II connector to work so I thought that ment it was only for 95+ F-Bodys. Turns out some 1995 Z28's (which is what I own) have OBD II connectors or that is what I heard. So I'm little confused here, do all OBD I computers have OBD I type connectors or do some of the later OBD I's come equipped with OBD II style connectors?

You have an OBDI computer with an OBDII connector. Don't ask me why GM did this.

      All 4th Gen F-Bodys, 1993 and 1994 have OBD-I PCM's and 12-pin OBD-I ALDL connectors.

      All 1995 F-Bodys have an OBD-I PCM and a 16-pin OBD-II ALDL connector.

All 1996 and newer F-Bodys have an OBD-II PCM and a 16-pin OBD-II ALDL connector.

AutoTap works ONLY with 96 and later OBD-II PCM's. It will not work with your 1995. Its the PCM that determines the software, not the connector.
