  • Tire Opinions Please

Okay, here's the deal. Winter is coming up, and although my car wont be a daily driver, im suspecting that a couple times a week i will need to be using my car. I also am poor though, and more likely than not these tires would also be used next spring/summer as well. With that in mind, and in combination of ever since i got the car, i've had rear tires with little tread, i'v decided on new tires. There are many i would like to get, but i have pretty much a one time hookup through someone i know, and he has two of each of these, so my question is, which one would you guys choose? My front tires are good by the way, I'd say 80% tread, so these are for just the rear.

    1) Bridgestone Potenza RE950
    245/50VR 16

    2) Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymmetrical
    255/50WR 16

    Option 1 or 2 guys.
    Thanx for all feedback

    ~Chris

well seeing that you want to drive it in the snow, neither of those tires will help much, there both a summer tire really. i went through this situation before, i drove my old 94 Z through 2 maine winters, and let me tell you, snow + camaro dont mix. i would reccomend getting a tire that has the most aggressive looking tread, and actually has a good rating for snow. i am not going to recomend a snow tire, because you say you want to keep them for the spring/summer too. i dunno look at the ratings like on tire rack

I actually just went to tire rack. They are both all weather tires with pretty similar ratings. I do want to get one or the other because i simply cannot pass up the deal . I still am just open to opinions because i myself know little to nothing about tires for the most part, and i know there are some people on here who have had more experience with different types of tires. I was also kinda hopin that the All Knowingly Tire Guru, codename wolfman, would be able to give an opinion as well; being that he always knows something about tires that no one else knows .
      Thanks again guys
