i have a 1993 camaro Z28 when i am in 5th gear and full throttle around 2500-3000 my car cuts out like i have hit the rev limiter or something of that sort so if you have any ideas of what it can be PLEASE HELP
Describe what happens. What speed does it happen? Is it only in 5th or is 6th also affected? Does the motor just hover or does it cut out? Are there any sounds while driving or shifting?
no it just happens in 5th and it just like surges like it hit the rev limiter it happens at about 100-110mph it could happen in 6th also but i dont try cuz i dont want to brake anything if you know what i mean
Your car has a 110 MPH speed limiter. The PCM shuts you down. The only way around it is to get a hypertech or some other form of reprogramming.
Only cars that were originally ordered with the Z rated tires could go faster than 110. I'm guessing that your speedomoter stops at 110 also? FYI, The 150 mph cluster is a direct plug in upgrade, but will not by itself remove the speed limiter.
Why do you need to go so fast, anyway? It is a great way to win a Darwin award, you know.

thanks for the help but if you dont mind how will a 150mph cluster help any
and is there any type of programer for that yr. i didnt think there was one for the obd1's and is it hard to put in a obd2 with a diffrent computer in the car
First, what Tracy is trying to say is that since you have the 2.73 gear package, your PCM limits you to 110, which is where your speedo stops. The 3.23 geared cars have a 150 speedo and are not limited, I don't believe. What he is saying is that you can upgrade your speedo to a 150 unit and also get a new chip made. 94+ cars could recalibrate, ours require a new chip. You could get a Superchips or Hypertech if you want to throw money away, but it would be wiser to go to pcmforless.com and have one custom made for your car. Also, a set of 3.23 or numerically higer gears would help too. Hope this helps.
okay but i still dont understand i have 3.73 in it right now and was thinking of going to 4.10's so do you think that would be hard to change the obd1 to an obd2 cuz i am thinking of getting a new computer cuz i've heard that the 93's have alot of problems
not worth the effort (i.e. near impossible) for something you heard might happen... OBD-II incorporates alot of sensors that the 93 doesn't have. just one reason.
