  • OBDI or OBDII, help me determine

    Hello folks.

I actually have my PCM out and in my hands. Here is the info off of it:
    Serv. No. 16188051 BMFR
    *86BMFR142008149*
    16209481 BMFR
It has four 32 pin connectors (red, black, blue, and gray)

    Is it OBDI or OBDII?

If its the stock PCM that came with your car, its OBD-I. There are no OBD-II 1995's. It would be just about impossible for anyone to substitute an OBD-II PCM in your car, since you do not have the required crank position sensor, after-cat O2 sensors, EEC flow detection switch, AIR flow detection, etc.

        94 - 95 OBDI

        96 - 97 OBDII

        98 - 02 OBDIII

I'm not sure about 93's, but I think that was OBDI as well.

There is no such thing as an OBD III The reason that they run obdII in 96 is because the US goverment wanted a standard for all Auto Computers so a person could go and buy one scanner for all his cars and to keep the cost of repairs down, But all LS1 come stock with a OBD II
