  • AFR 220cc LT4 SBC Racing Cylinder Head

    I just inquired about this set of heads, an LT4 hot cam and intake from tybryne motor sports. If he cuts me a good deal, I will be running this setup before summertime.

    How's the cast of these heads? Good quality? I know most of the time aftermarket casts are a lot weaker than OEM, that's why I ask. Any input on these heads would be great. Thanks.

    They're plenty strong and thicker in some areas. You might be better off with a smaller port size, but that depends what you have in mind for the car. You're going to have some porting to do on the manifold, and will need the special LT4 performance intake gaskets, not the stock ones.

      I hope you're putting those on a very high HP, very high RPM, large displacement (396ci or greater) engine. They are not going to work well on a 350 or 355.

          the 195 would be an awesome head. i have a set of the 210cc race heads on my LT-4 vette with a blower. they are designed to either be boosted, or run a lot of rpm's. i looked into the 220's and you dont even bennifit from them unless your power range is from 5500-9000rpm's. i have nothing but good things to say about AFR. i had these heads custom built for my needs, they were very good with the customer service, and for having a new set milled to my specs, i was shocked at how soon i got them.
          2000 WS6 T/A M6. Monster stage 3 clutch, flowmaster cat back, 4.10's, SLP lid, Hurst shifter.

            what'd you pay for those 210's?

              i dont have hte sheet with me, but i want to say 2200 or 2400. they are not a listed head, i had a lot of extra stuff done to them, and i also ordered roller rockers and stud girdles with them.
