Are the oils marketed as being formulated for high milage cars really different or better for an engine with high miles or is it just marketing hype? I heard somewhere they had different detergents and stuff in them. These aren't for my Z but my '94 Grand Prix which serves as winter car/mountain bike hauler, and has 112K on it.
Also, what is the definition of a 'synthetic' oil. I thought a true synthetic had no petrolium product(s) in it at all. True syn oils I thought were from Amsoil, Redline, and Mobil 1, unlike Casto and Valvoline which claim to be syn oil but are highly refined petrolium oils.
And has anyone seen that new Valvoline oil they're promoting with the Valvoline cup? What is it about the lack of detergents and additives that makes it 'not recommended for street use'?
