    A couple things...

The Firehawk is a tier one SLP car. Ask Wolfman to explain the tiers, I don't get it... Anyway, it is a more limited production car. With full options, you can get a free flowing intake lid, and free flowing cat-back exhaust. You can also get an upgraded suspension and nicer wheels. With that said, if you are going to mod your car, buy the most stripped-down Trans Am that you can, because you are going to end up just taking off all the parts you paid extra for. Intake and catback are two of the first things to go.

I also notice on your Cardomain page that you had a couple questions about power and how to gain it...

You have the LS1 motor, and you are putting out power that is pretty equal to a C5 Corvette. Don't believe the 325 HP rating... it's probably closer to 360. To the wheels, you are probably throwing down 310 to 320 on a Dynojet.

As far as gaining power goes... how much do you want? If I had it to do all over again, I never would have dinked around with intake, cat-back, etc... I would have saved up for a turbo setup right away. Here I am, almost $3K in mods, and only about 40 HP over stock. Save up and do it right... right from the beginning. TURBO.

I think what he is trying to say stay away from the bolt on junk. You may slap a Lid and a cat-back exhust on there and gain 20 HP at the wheels but thats almost 1000$ for 20 HP?

Go with a power adder like a super charger or turbo or a small hit of NO2(be carful with the last choice. Or go with a head cam kit, several companys offer excellent head cam kits for the ls1 for under 4000$.

I think your best choice however is the supercharger or Turbo. With one of those two your will retain decent fuel milage and drivablity but the power will always be on tap. The turbo set up my be a littel more involved with all the "air plumbing" that needs to be done with the exhust. The superchargers only need a pully, an oil line (some are stand alone oilers) , injectors, and a computer flash.

Also think about suspension upgrades. There was an artical in GMHP about a 97 WS6 runing mid 12's STOCK. Well he did have a converter, elec. water pump, and gears, but the time was from the sub frame connecters, V6 springs, panhard bar, ajustable torque arm, and trailing arms.

        tier 1 vs factory:

a factory car is just that. its ordered at the dealer by a customer or by the dealer for stock.... sometimes the dealer ask's for a deposit...sometimes they do not..if they feel it will sell if the "ordering potential customer" backs out.

the firebird, formula, TA, and WS6 are all "factory" cars. however.. the WS6 coversion takes place "off site" from GM at ASC under GM contract. ... but the car is treated the same as the other "factory" models - warranty, etc.

a tier 1 car is a car that a vehicle manuf. has set an offsite contract with an aftermarket "tuner" company to either further modify the factory model or build the car model itself. the car is sold thru the GM dealerships but must be special ordered in most cases. some dealers, in the late 90's and afterwards, starting stocking firehawks due to the exsposure they got over the internet and finally on tv...before that.. most people, even some dealers, had no idea what a firehawk was. they have been building them since 91. in order to order the car, the fee for the SLP upgrade/modification had to be paid in advance the dealer. in most cases, this ment the dealer wanted the ordering customer to pay for this alteration as thier deposit in case the customer backed out and the dealer "sat" on the car. SLP would not alter the car until this alteration money had been recieved. the amount varied depending on model year. in the early 90's , it was much more exspensive than later dates, as the amount of alterations decreased over time, then increased slightly with "options" to be added on to the standard alterations.

up until the end of the 96 model year, the slp cars got gm official "build numbers". that were placed on a small "badge" inside the cockpit.. in 97, they discontinued officially numbering the cars, however, all one had to do was to call slp and they could get the build number, and the build number was on the "tier 1 window sticker" which appeared on the car in addition to the gm sticker. the build number also appeared on the right door jam on the DOT compliance decal for the alterations.

the Firehawk is considered the "top of the food chain" in the pontiac firebird line up. but........hey........... they are all awesome cars....... lets face it. and with a few mods...... the ugliest formula can easily beat a stock ws6 or hawk....

i prefer the formula body style (pre 98 model year) for the firehawk with the addition of the high spoiler,...that only came in 96-97.........

I was just joking but I saw a formula once with a TA front clip and high rear spoiler but of the side skirts and had the formula rear end it was one of the best looking LT1 f-bodies I've ever seen.

My bud has recently become an authorized seller/installer for http://www.ststurbo.com can you say 500 safe RWHP/RWTQ from a stock LS1

my bud just ran low 11's on Nitto's this past week with only this system

In short there are many places to get turbo's but this system seems to be the best for long-term use as it does not bake the engine compartment and wires/electronics

dont forget guys... back in the mid and upper 90's, nobody really had a reliable turbo set up for these cars...and the few that were ..were so costly nobody could afford em. we all did what we had to do. we found the tricks and little things that the vendors later capatilized on... like the ferco bellows.....the lt4 knock module, 160 stat...etc.
