  • When is too much??

Ok, i have a 97' TA supercharged ( ATI Procharger 8lbs boost) 390 rwhp. i did the SLP full suspension. This car still feels like a boat!! since i cant find a body kit anywhere im thinking about doing some custom body modifications to maybe make the car shorter in length.. and the car handles MUCH better.. i mean it sticks to the ground on a sharp turn but there is still a bunch of body roll. i know these cars are heavy and long, but anyone find anything that made the car feel like it was handling as well as it actually is? I cant add anymore boost or do nos either because i was told the engine couldnt hold it . Its the last year of the lt1 and i cant find one ANYWHERE... should i sell this beast or keep it? One more thing... only in traffic on a hot day... it overheats like crazy... hits 240-250... anyone have the same problem?

    Red, 6 speed

Just one comment... the LT1 is a cast-iron block... I would be real surprised if all it can tolerate is 8 lbs of boost.

It's not the block that you have to worry about, at least not at 8 psi. I've run boost as high as 26 psi with an iron block. Upgraded pistons, head bolts and lower compression should be considered mandatory above 6 psi. The factory pistons have a tendency to break at the ring lands, factory head bolts are marginal at 8 psi, the factory compression ratio isn't high boost friendly.

On the overheating....take the typical steps. Make sure fans are coming on at the correct temps. Test the thermostat to make sure it's opening at the correct temp. If you haven't had your coolent flushed and you're over 60,000 miles then do that next chance you get. If you wait too long past 60k it will begin to gunk up your coolent system.
