  • dual exhaust for my 97 z28?

I have headers and a flowmaster catback system on my car now and i was wondering if true dual exhaust can be put on my car instead, if yes i need info on what would be the best way. Also would it help performance better than the catback?

Im not positive but back when we were at the old format i believe this question came up and the only way to do it was custom.

Its possible to do a custom "true dual" exhaust, and people have gone as far as X-pipes and H-pipes. The question I would have is "is there any significant gain over a good catback?". The worlds quickest LT1 ran mid to low-9's with a Mufflex 4" catback. The only reason he took it off (and ran 9.04@155mph) was to save the 50# it weighed. He saw no HP gain with just collector mufflers.

My approach is simply to bolt a Borla XR-1 shorty muffler on each collector, then route a 3" pipe with a 90-degree turndown in front of the rear axle. It's going over the axle that makes true duals so difficult, because the panhard rod brace is in the way.
