  • LS1 dry nitrous on a Silverado????

Anyone ever try running the NOS 5177 dry kit for the LS1 on a 4.8L or 5.3L Silverado LS1-style iron engine? I've been impressed with the simplicity and effectiveness of the 5177 dry kit since watching a buddy of mine run in the 10's/125mph with the NOS kit on his 99 SS. Wondering if anyone has tried using the kit on one of the GM Gen III truck engines?

        droppedgmc:

I saw your post with the link to pic's of your Sierra..... and hoped you had seen this post. I'd like to get some more feedback on your experience with the setup, hows the 4L60E holding up, why you think the rear blew, traction in general, etc. Right now my truck's a daily driver, and a "tow vehicle" for my Formula.

        Thanks for the response.

        Ken:

I just can't leave things the way they are..... Gotta change 'em. If I could find a 6L iron engine with a 4L80E, I'd love to turn my paerweight into a more exciting "daily driver"........ Tom Byrne's got some killer short blocks!!!

right now my truck is a daily driver also. the trans that is in the truck right now is from a 99 trans am. the stock one went at about 73,000. if you don't have a trans cooler, i suggest getting on. thats why my trns lasted as long as it did. the rear end went because the bolt that holds the spider gear pin fell out. spider gear pin came out on rotation, hit the diff cover(put a hole in it), then locked up on the pinion and went boom. other than that, everything else has been good. the setup that i have with the nitrous works well. i did trade my 15lbs bottle recently for a 10lbs. i get more of a "hit" with the 10lbs.
