Well, if everything goes according to plan, in my next class at college we are going to have to rebuild some transmissions (if they don't work, we fail
). I figured this will be a great chance to rebuild my tranny, which is a 1991 700R4 (technically a 4L60), it's not in bad shape, but the fluids always brown and sometimes can't decide quite when to shift, but it doesn't slip at all. I'm no expert on transmissions, but I have torn down various manual and auto trannies in previous classes.
What I trying to get at is:
1. Are there any good books or literature about rebuilding 700R4s (a.k.a. 4L60)?
2. Does anyone recommend or know of a good rebuild kit?
3. I figured since the tranny's apart, I'd get a Transgo shift kit with a Corvette servo from Probuilt. But, should I get a higher stall torque converter, even though I have stock heads and cam?
Thanks for any advice of suggestions.
