Help, planing on dying my top soon.

My vert's black top looks like ("feces" substituted by moderator) with a capital F (pics to come soon). I have been told by some of my friends that know their paint & I can just dye the top black again instead of replacing it. I was wondering how would I do this and what kind of dye do I need to get? Basically I have no idea what I'm doing.

Well I had a coupe so I never had to worried about that but I dyed my carpet in my TA just befor I sold. I was oraginally Gray or graphite, But there were many stains all over the place. The Carpet had no holes or major wear spots so, I filled a kiddy pool with 12 Packages of Black Rit Dye and let the carpet soke for 3 days, then I rinsed it clean with clean water and took it to my friends work, a dry cleans where he dryed it in a industrial size dryed.

It turned out really well. was alot cheaper than buying a new one.

If you are goin gthrough the trouble of removing it and soaking it in dye, why not just replace it? FWIW, the removal and reinstallation procedure it what is dificult. Not only that, but as a top ages the stitching it is begins to frey and if your top is original it may not last much longer anyways.
