  • fuel pump advice needed

After gently washing the engine on my 98 TA, like I've done before, strange things happened. Dash lights flickered and chime sounded. I also heard some strange sounds like relays making hard contact. I then started it and ran it about 10 min w/no problems. A few mins later, same thing. started it and ran fine. Didn't hear any more noises. After a bit I tried starting it and the starter would turn, but it just won't start. I don't hear the pump and the fuses and relays are good. So I am looking into a new in tank pump. Any opinions.
    Sorry so long.

If washing the engine caused it, then it's an electrical problem, not the pump in the tank. The only true way to test a relay is to physically remove it and test it's functions on the bench, unless you reall know how to do an in-car test. I guarantee you it's something simple under the hood. No sense in spending a couple hundred bucks and 3 or 4 hours dropping the tank when it won't fix the problem.

there is a pump priming connection in the engine bay, which is wired into that whole system. You might have shorted it out, in turn shorting out the fule pump. Check it out. I think the connector is located on the passanger side near the PCM. Goodluck.

I did try the relay with a known good one, but still no luck. I have no fuel pressure after trying to start the car.
If it does turn out to be the pump, has anybody used the Walbro?

Is the noise coming from around the Relay and fuse panel in the motor compartment?? near the Brake..... thing..... the Brake .... god what is it..... its like the Brake "brain?" on the drives side. I droped a wrench and got it cought between the brake thing and the frame and for some reason it shorted the hole car out. It would make a "Intergiz" sound with a pop when I tryed to start the car.
