Does anyone have this setup? What I'm looking to do is get the Spintech split case muffler and weld in place of the stock one. Does anyone have any sound clips of this? I've found a few on Mufflex's website, but I need more. BTW, it's going on a 1995 Z28 M6. Thanks!

The SpinTechs sound pretty good, and not excessively loud. They are offered by Mufflex as a replacement for the Flowmaster offered in their 3.5" and 4" catbacks. I've ridden in an SS belonging to Denny, the owner of Mufflex, and it sounded very good, both inside and outside the car. They tested the muffler to make sure it didn't hurt performance compared to the Flowmasters they use - which have been shown to support over 1,100HP.

But.... just replacing the stock muffler is not going to gain you a whole lot. The restriction in the system is the 2.75" intermediate pipe, from the cat to the muffler. It is "crimp" bent and doesn't flow well. You get the best gains from a full "catback", including at leat a mandrel-bent 3" intermediate pipe, and a good muffler.

I'd love to go with a catback, but haven't come to the point in my life where I can drop $400 on one. How much of a gain am I looking at with the Spintech and maybe no cat? I'm doing it more for sound rather than performance, I want something that sounds good and isn't a flowmaster

You can pick up a magnaflow catback for around $300. They're 3" stainless steel and supposed to sound really nice. That's what I'm getting as soon as I can afford it.

          would you recommend getting a 2 1/2" inlet or a 3" inlet. I think its a 2 3/4" inlet stock.

Get the 3" inlet. I ran a Borla "rear section" with the stock 2-3/4" Y-pipe, and the Borla was only a 2-1/2" inlet. It was like a huge cork in the system.... sounded good though.

I ran a single in/single out Spintech 3" catback setup for about year on my 97 WS6 and I really liked the sound. And like Fred said, it wasn't too loud...it was just right. It didn't pop on downshifts and their was minimal "drone" inside the car at cruising speeds. Overall I was very happy with the Spintech setup I had.
