  • A new car lover!

Well gents just brought my 3 day old son from the hospital. The boy loves the car goes right to sleep. But i cant take him in the 96 Z the mom drives cause it doesnt have any heat. Low coolent light is on also. New water pump and good fluid level whats the deal????

First off congrats on the baby!

The low coolant light may either be caused by your cooling system not being bled properly after water pump install. Try bleeding it first if that doesn't work then put a new low coolant sensor in there know to go bad in LT1's.

The no heat problem is probably caused by a clogged\dirty heater core. You'll have to take off the two hoses running into the firewall on the passenger side and use a hose to flush it out. Then you should have good heat.

Drive careful with the little one.

if there is an air pocket in the coolant system, then it may cause the low coolant light to be on, and it may also make the heater not work.

hehe, rather a light than a buzzer. Old rx7s had those buzzers, and when the air pocket in the system went over the sensor, that buzzer would go off until coolant moved over it. Crazy loud and annoying.

When was the last time the coolent was flushed and filled??

These are both problems commonly associated with not doing the above on schedule. I think the manual says to do it at 65k. I did mine over 10k after that and had both the low coolent light and heater core problem. The coagulant and old coolent conspire to gum up your system. You're not the first.

You'll need to have your heater core back flushed and possibly replace your low coolent sensor along with the coolent system flush and fill. Been there done that.
