  • SES light on after reinstall of M6

    I ran the c ar for the first time after reinstalling a new clutch and i got an SES light. I ran PCMCOMM and it said it was an EGR fault. I also noticed that only one of the O2 sensors has a voltage reading. Can it be that the EGR fault is caused from the o2 sensor or no? my o2 sensors wires are kinda corroded and the clip is broken, so im buying two new ones, figure ill replace both. Is there any free programs out there that will actually give me the actual fault other than saying EGR fault... can i get a trouble code?

      First, you might want to include the year of your car... it can help in the diagnosis of DTC codes. Since you are using pcmcomm, I assume you have a 94 or 95 OBD-I car????

      What was the specific DTC code? If one of the O2 sensors has no voltage reading (hard to understand, since a scan will usually "see" the PCM's 450mV bias voltage if a sensor is "open" or the wire is disconnected) you should be getting a code for the sensor.

      A faulty O2 sensor is not going to set an EGR code. There are two basic codes for the EGR.... one for a faulty solenoid/wiring... and another when the PCM does not see a blip in the MAP reading when the valve is supposed to open. Niether of those would show up because of an O2 sensor problem. The latter code is generally caused by deleting the cat, or going to headers.... depending on the year of your car.

      Do you have a scan file we could look at?

          Ya its a 95 OBDI, i don't have the scan file here, its on the laptop at my house, ill try to get it though later tonight and have it up here so you guys can take a look at it, i actually had 3 faults, one was the EGR Fault, one was a Electrical fault and i don't remember off the top of my head what the third fault was.
