  • weird bogging problem

This is weird. I noticed my car started bogging recently, but it only bogs when I'm in gear and not while I'm in neutral. I replaced my fuel filter in August, and my fuel pump in October.

    Anyone?

Fuel Filter? Dirty Injectors? Carbon build up in? could be any of those.

You'll have to be more specific...............
Bogs when put into gear and no throttle?
      with light throttle?
      Only at WOT?
      only at low rpms
      only at high rpms?

I noticed the bogging when my car is warmed up, but at a cold start it won't bog. When it starts to bog I hold down the clutch, rev it, and it doesn't bog. When I release the clutch and apply more than 1/2 pressure on the gas, it starts to bog. It bogs tremendously at WOT.

          One word: scanner

You need to see what the computer sees. Evidence of fuel being added or subtracted, 02 sensor readings, MAF readings, etc.... this is going to be tough without looking over some hard data. Evidently something is amis when it heats up and is under load.

            Hey Joe,

after some experimenting, I've came to this: my car bogs with 93 octane but not with 89. What do you think?

my car bogged when a coil went out...opti maybe? Just a thought...

I would bog with only 1/4-1/2 throttle...and sounded like a prop-plane at WOT...

But why would my car bog with anything higher than 93 octane, and not with anything lower than 89? My car is powered tuned with LT1 edit when I had my M4 - M6 conversion at the shop. Could I be running to rich?

It would be interesting to see any knock values. If you were running too much timing, the lower octane might trigger more retard, thereby cleaning up the combustion event. Without a scanner, it's a guess.

The strange thing is it started doing this a week after I replaced my fuel pump. But if it's the fuel pump, woudln't I have this problem from the very beginning rather than a week or so into it?

My car did this for awhile, it was a wiring problem. It was stuck in a closed loop, something to do with the cold start switch being stuck open.. it would run fine while warming up then run like crap after because it waqs firing rich.

I ended up rewiring the whole thing so I don't really have a fix for you, hope the little I know helped.
