  • some brake problems...

    ...sorta.

I was changing the brake pads today with a new set of Hawk pads...everything was running like clock work on the driverside front (job took 8 mintues) and proceeded to the passenger front...

I unbolted the top and bottom bolts fairly easy; then the thought passed..."wait, I didn't have to use two wrenches to get the bolt off." It looks like the sliding pins (I guess that's what you call it) are stuck!

I look around to see if anything is catching them and nothing. I pull and twist and jerk, but they wouldn't move...so I gave up and assembled everything with the new pads. It seemed okay...but I knew the caliper wasn't going to adjust itself if the sliding pins didn't move.

I take her for a quick spin around the block and imediately notice the familiar smell of brake dust...I pull back into the garage and put my hands across the caliper...I FELT LIKE IT JUST CAME OUT OF THE OVEN!!!! Everything was hot, even my rim. All the other calipers were cool to the touch, even the driver side front....so I know that the sliding pin was the issue.

I let her cool and take everything off and proceed to remove the pin and see what the problem was...no luck.

My question is, anyone know what the heck happened? Why aren't they coming out...??? This sucks....
