Go with one of the high flow cats and you'll stay emissions legal and won't lose any power. You would need to be making probably over 500 hp before a high flow cat will cause you to lose 2 or 3 hp. And it's probably just a matter of time before most areas will be required to have some form of emissions testing.

I don't know about that...
Several states don't have emissions tests. Where I'm from - Michigan - they used to have emissions testing, but abandoned it and no longer require it. If anything, I'd say things are going in the opposite direction.

In Atlanta, They no longer require the rolling chassis test for OBDII cars. They just scan the computer. They do do a visual inspection for the converter. They are probably going to expand the inspections to more outlying counties too. Atlanta doesn't meet the federal standards for clean air. I really think it is the diesels that are more of a problem than cars. I see them spewing smoke everyday.

But if Al Gore gets in the Whitehouse, you better be ready for changes. NJ got tougher in the last couple of years and the stupid part of that is most of our air pollution is from industry and all the air pollution brought over from the states to the west of us. Some states may have abandoned the emissions testing while on the dyno, but more states are starting to impose the visual emissions inspection to make sure you still have the equipment on the car. Plus, the high flow cats don't cost any real horsepower so you might as well keep it legal. Like mentioned above, it's illegal in all 50 states to remove emissions equipment.

I gotta say something..... I don't know why everyone is so eager to ditch the cats, but keep a muffler. I woould rather run the cats and no muffler than the reverse. The cats do cut the noise levels nicely, to the point that most times you don't need a muffler and the sound is pretty sweet. Several new car manufacturers have figured this out already and are running a cat with no muffler. For a short while, I ran my T/A with the cats only and no muffler and tips, just an extension from the point where the muffler connects after the axle. It sounded pretty sweet. Most likely it was close to the loudmouth used on an LT-1.
The plan is to throw a cut-out on the intermediate pipe for the most free-flowing setup possible that is still quiet enough for street use. I'll run it through the muffler to quiet it down on the street, but at the track, with no cats to restrict it, my exhaust will basically be wide open. That's my plan anyways...

Its coming back in october or november tho, its going to be in local garages and some gas stations. Youll have to leave your car there over night for the check. So if your not legal then youd better find someone you know that will pass you.

I don't either. The cats of the last 15 years are not that restrictive. Besides, clean air isn't a bad thing.
Oh and as for the internet, it was invented in the early 70's by DARPA (I think). Later, other government agencies setup networks between their agencies. Later, they started hooking network to network. In the late 80's, somebody had the bright idea of expanding it so that the general public could get on it. It didn't start in the late 80's. I used to get on bill boards in the early 80's with my Comadore 64. Does that date me? My first computer was a Timex Sinclair 1000.
Al Gore did NOT invent the internet.

You don't REALLY think that I thought he did, do you?
I think him saying, "I invented the internet" is one of the dumbest, most outlandish, and humorous things I have ever heard a human being say. I roll with laughter eery time I see that clip of him saying that.
