How to paint rims

OK so ive had my chrome rims for a while now and my old alloys are on my t/a right now cuz its hybernating for winter time. But when it comes time to put the chrome rims back on i want to paint my alloys black. What are the corect steps, procedure, and materials needed to accomplish this?

The same way you would do body work.......

Remove as much grime and dirt up front as possible. Use aircraft stripper to remove the existing finishes and complelety wash again to remove any chemical agents. Start sanding with 400 grit until the entire surface is roughed up and clean. Use primer and sand smooth (lightly) to promote good adhesion to the metal. Just make sure that if you sand down past the primer and expose metal, you'll have to re-apply more primer and sand. You just don't want to apply the color coat to any bare metal. Select your favorite color (and appropriate clear coat) and apply using several light coats. Any imperfections at this point can be wet sanded and color re-applied. Follow the directions on the paint for the time required to apply the clear coat, apply and let dry. You may wish to go a little heavier on the clear for protection. Also look into the amount of gloss. Some clears can be had in a satin finish instead of high gloss. It looks trick at times. Duplicolor makes a good dedicated wheel paint, I've picked it up at autozone.

Get the tires removed from the rim, and take them
to a powder coating place that can do it for you.

THey will bead blast and powder coat. Turns out great.
16" should cost $85, 17" should be $95..

Is that per rim. Cuz im not about to pay 85 bucks per rim. Im not looking to use these as my everyday rims. Its kinda just someting to take up some of my free time.
