What weight oil are you using this might have something to do with the oil pressure. You just might need to replace the valve stem seals.

LT4KM, 160' TS, MAF ends, TB-BP, GMPP 1.6 R/R, SLP CAI, LCA, Adj. tierod, BMR tower brace, 17x9"F/R, 275/40R17 GY F1 tires. WS6 Muffler, LS1 DS. 21mm rear sway bar. Soon to be LT4 heads, intake, & HOT cam

Looks like a sweet car. Most likely the owner has added either motor honey or a heavy weight oil trying to disguise the oil burning upon startup. Putting another pressure gauge on it would verify if the stock gauge is accurate. Pull the dipstick and if the oil clings to the dipstick and looks thick, he's gone additive happy. If the oil looks thin and transparent it's most likely the gauge.

If the seller is legit, he wouldn't mind if you want a local mechanic to check it out first.

        thanks...

Hey guys i appreciate the quick response.... yeah i know him well he was hjonest with me enough so far.. i mean if it blows smoke aty startup it may need a ring job i think.. and the gauge or sensor may be bad.. I appreciate your feedback this really is a nice car the cool thing is for 1000 and auto zone.. lol i can grab a brand new crate 350 and throw it in but for now i have to deal with the 5.0 its better than what i did have a 1992 Rs v6..

Nope.... if it blows oil on start up only, it is most likely worn valve stem seals. Once the car stops, whatever oil is left on the rocker and valve tip, soaks past the valve stem seal and drips either into the combustion chamber or pools right above the valve. As soon as you turn it over and fire, the oil quickly burns off and you get the puff of blue smoke. If the rings are middle of the road as far as being worn, it will smoke until the motor really warms up and if lucky, the smoke stops. 9 times out of 10 you won't be that lucky. It will burn oil all the time, also it will begin to pressurize the crankcase, possibly blow oil out the breathers and/or dipstick. Then it's rebuild time.
