  • Busted Windshield

I suppose this could be considered a hazard of parking in a parking lot that is directly adjacent to a golf course....

    HOWEVER....

Wouldn't you think that if you hit a golf ball so hard that it put a hole in a person's windshield the size of a man's fist and cracks running the length of the windshield, you would at LEAST have the courtesy to leave a note on what was left of said windshield? But no....he was too chicken to even come over and pick up the ball...it was still sitting, a good 4-5 feet away from the point of impact.

I hope the guy can sleep well tonight, that's all I've got to say.

It happened to my older brother too. Talk to the people at the golf course, they can probably track down the people that were there at the time of the incident. Did you get a police report?

Unfortunately, I don't know what time it happened, other than while I was at work, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Ironically, I can see my car from my office - but because of the angle that I park, I couldn't see the windshield, so I had no idea. Plus, it's not like I sit and stare at my car all day (although, I suppose I could ).

I am going to call the golf course, although I doubt they will be of much help.

I just got back from vacuuming out all the glass. I even had some on the back panel that covers the hatch.

Doesn't the golf coarse carry insurance for this?

In some states your insurance is required to replace the windshield if it is cracked or broken. I don't think there is a deductible either. I'm pretty sure this is the case here in FL. Might want to check your policy.....Good Luck!

Yep, insurance has to replace your windshield, Florida law. BUT, the golf course should pay for it. They are supposed to have insurance to cover surrounding property in the instance that a golf ball does fly errantly off the course.

Around here, the golf courses are surrounded by trees, except the ones that neighborhoods have been built around, and I'm sure they have insurance for those people's property (considering they all drive Escalade's and Porsche's)

I called my insurance company - it is indeed covered, no deductible. So that's good news. In fact, I should even be able to get it fixed tomorrow (today now I guess).

It was funny, the girl at the insurance company asked me if there was anyone I wanted to hold responsible for it....I said sure, as soon as I can find them! Then she asked how soon I wanted it fixed. Ummmmmmmm....okay, yeah, let's just wait until after Christmas! When do you THINK I want it fixed?!? Didn't really see the point to that question, I guess I assumed it would be obvious that I need it fixed NOW. Duh!

Anyway...I'll probably still call the golf course. I have the murder weapon, even. Dust for fingerprints, anyone??

Check this out... Kinda the same thing, but no broken windshield.

I used to live near a driving range back home. One day I'm on my way to the beach and passing the range. They hadn't put up those huge screens to keep the balls from flying on to the road. Well I'm driving along with the T's off and jammin out to some good ol' Skynyrd, and then all of the sudden WACK! A ball had flown into my car and nailed me on the side of the head. How the ball was able to stay in the car is beyond me. It took some Mario Andretti driving just to stay on the road, but I managed to not wreck or kill anyone on the sidewalk.

Well, I grabbed to the ball off my floor board and turned around to go back to the range. When I went in and explained the situation (with obvious anger) the manager said it was "satistically impossible." Then I showed him the lump on my head and it even had the little indents from the golf ball. He didnt know what to say then. I threatened a lawsuit. Man was that guy was nervous. About 3 days later when I drove past the coruse again (T's on and windows up), the screens were up. But I still had a golf ball sized Knot on the side of my head.

Carzy things that can happen huh???

YOU know some states require that Insurance replace windsheilds that are crack with no Co-pay. That means it dosent cost you a cent. I know thats how it is in Flordia.

You gotta love the common courtesy people have for each other today. Breaking someones windshield, and not even leaving a note or anything, its just not right. But i am glad to hear that it will be replaced without you having to pay one cent. Hope all works out in the future when your parked there, just try and keep a good eye on it from time to time while your at work.

You are lucky, in MO and KS your comprehensive deductible applies.
