Is that a Kenwood stereo receiver in the back ground?

Nope, it's an old Technics that I keep around for classic rock. They just don't build them like that any more. My home theater is sitting next to it on a separate system. It just doesn't produce rock like my old setup.

No they don't build em like that anymore. It looks just like an old Kenwood 275 watt, with the gyro tuner, that I use to have. I loved that thing and I used to rock out with it all day, every day at work. That was years ago, and it has since died on me, but it took out many a speaker before it finally gave up the ghost It was a good one though

Nice pup. What exactly is it?

I have two "floor sweepers" that have a pretty mean bark but if foreigners come in the house, one runs to great them while the bigger one goes and hides

Well, my newer stuff sounds okay but just doesn't have the guts that my old system has. Some old timers swear that even older "Tube" units sound even better. I would be inclined to believe it.

I believe that is true. Also, have you ever noticed that when you are listening to the radio, that recordings from the 60’s, 70’s and even the early, early 80’s have a truer, more high fidelity sound with all kinds of stereo separation. Today’s music, is so flat and one dimensional, and it supposed to be all of this great digital sound, bla, bla. I am ALL FOR technology, I love it, but I just can’t deny that the Classic Rock recordings, like what you were talking about, blows today’s music away in fidelity. What is up with that?

I have to say that the big screens have awesome sound quality-surround sound, etc., but if you have your stereo hooked up to it, you will need to play some “oldies” to utilize the sound potential. I wish that I could put the sound quality of my Toshiba 55 inch in my car

Are you kidding? All you are noticing is that most of the music in the last 20 years has very little depth and there's a lot less talent out there to put dynamic groups together. I can't say why (better drugs?), but rock really hit its pinnicle in the 70s with all those groups that had multiply talented members (some had phd. types) who could play all kinds of instruments and write very complicated and deep music, putting out double theme albums - not like today where some guy or gal is up there belting out a series of unrelated songs or some pos rapper and his homeys stomping around throwing signs and acting a fool. Sometimes I hear some really good new groups, but they are very few, and I am just starved for some decent new music. And I don't mean Korn doing a bad job of imitating Pink Floyd.

I thought I ought to add that I realize that there was also a lot of BAD music in the past, but there was more GOOD music too. There may just have been MORE music to choose from and more people doing it.

BTW, the reason that I used the radio comparison is that most people don’t normally go back and forth between yesterday‘s and today‘s music on CD‘s, but they will do it on the radio.

Anyway, I am not kidding-I agree, and you don’t have to convince me, that most of the music since the 70’s sucks, and thank God I got to “experience” the 70’s, and yes, definitely, there were better drugs. This was before PCP got into the “mix”. Its not just that rock hit its pinnacle in the 70’s, there is something different about the original recordings of that time period as compared to today. I am not a recording expert, so I don’t know what the reason is, but when you listen to a CD recording of 70’s music, the fidelity is as 3 dimensional as you could hope for. Today’s recordings just don’t compare. If you don’t hear what I hear, then whatever-everybody has an opinion
