Ive had some water under my passangers side carpet up front, specifically by the hump. Is this a problem. My carpet is wet and smells. Im thinking their is a leak somewhere. And also what is that hump there for?

The hump is for the catalytic converter.Tracy

I'm with TraceZ definetly sounds like the heater core is bad. Just take off the kick panel right below the glove box and look to see if it looks like the water is coming from there.1994 Firebird Formula, M6, Fan switch, 160 thermostat, Pacesetter LT headers, Morosso CAI, TB bypass, True duals.

Hi Lt14mla!
You need to check to see if the heater core way leaking like the guys told you to! If the liquid is pink or has a antifreeze/Dexcool smell then it is an antifreeze leak.
It could be a water leak comming from the weather stripping on the passenger side door! This is a common thing. I use silcon paste on the weather stripping this helps! stop leaks.

The coolant in your car is pink unless someone changed it to the traditional green type. It is called Dexcool. I'm not sure about what odor it has, if any.
If your heater core is leaking you need to replace it. Unless you dont mind it wrecking the carpet, stinking up the interior and rusting out the floor pan.
Take the passenger side kick panel out and look under the dash at the core with a flashlight.Tracy

Its a little bit of a pain to get the heater core out but you can just take off the kick panel and look for signs of it leaking there. If it is leaking out of the heatercore I'd definetly replace it immediately for the reasons already listed plus your system is compromised its the same as having a leaking hose you can get air in the line or over heat the car. Spending a little bit of time and money right now to get the problem fixed is alot better than overheating the car or having your floor rust through.1994 Firebird Formula, M6, Fan switch, 160 thermostat, Pacesetter LT headers, Morosso CAI, TB bypass, True duals.

It sounds to me like you have a leaf or other obstruction in your drain hole for your AC evaporator. Mine flooded bad before I got down there and fixed it. Get the car on a lift or on car ramps, shine a flashlight up by the starter, and see if anything is blocking the hole for the AC. If it is, there's your problem.
BTW, a heater core is supposedly the hardest thing to change in an f-body, even harder than LT1 spark plugs, which we all know is second only to the devil himself as far as evil goes"No, officer, that bottle is my onboard Halon system"

I once posted a sarcasm-laced post about spark plug change in an LT1. Here's a sarcastic one about the heater core.
Step 1: Refinance your house.
Step 2: Take car to dealer.
Step 3: Trade it in on a 2005 Escalade and pay full sticker. It will still be cheaper than the heater core replacement bill will be"No, officer, that bottle is my onboard Halon system"

ok i checked my coolant... pretty low. so i went over to the car parts and picked up some GM Dex-cool approved Prestone Coolant. Its 5/150 Extended life mix. Im gonna add that in. I also bought some SNAP Cooling system Stop Leak. It says stops radiator leaks and loss of antifreeze and is designed to repair water cooling systems. Will this help me with my problem.
Also what do i do when i put the coolant itself in to check and see if the heater core is the problem. Im guessing put it in start the car put the heat on high and check to see for a leak in the carpet. Any other things. Thanks for the help guys i appreciate it.
ps. aroubnd how much would a shop charge for to change the heater core if i bought it myself.-Lou -

Yeah, stop-leak clogs the hole, and everything else. So instead of just replacing the heater core, now you'll have to replace the heater core, water pump (and optispark), and the radiator.
2 options. Fix the heater core yourself (because the dealer will tear you a new one) or seal up the box the heater core is in as best you can, drill a hole in it, and run a drain tube from it out of the bottom of the car until you can afford to have it fixed right. You'll constantly have to replace coolant, but at least you don't have to replace coolant AND suck 4 inches of water out of your floorboard every couple of weeks.
I'd still check the drain hole for the AC. There is no way to really explain where it is. Just shine a flashlight up near the starter and look around until you see a black box with a hole in the bottom of it. That is the AC evaporator drain hole, and sometimes a leaf can come through the cowl and get trapped in the hole. It's a one in a million shot, I know, but it happened to me."No, officer, that bottle is my onboard Halon system"
