In theory how much power can the rear end take before needing to upgrade to a 12 bolt? I'm talking mainly street driving and no use of slicks.

Their really are no magical ratings for these stocker 7.5" 10 bolts. It all boils down to torque load and how quickly the torque load is applied.

There have been several f-bodies featured in magazines such as GM High Tech Performance that were putting over 700HP to the tire and their stocker rear ends had held up for over a year. But then by the same token you will see a bolt-on only M6 launched hard at a high RPM and grenade the rear end.

Alot of the horror stories are with people performing high RPM clutch drops with the manual T-56. This applies the torque load nearly instantaneously and is not rear-end friendly. With your automatic and steet tires, your chances of grenading the rear end go down significantly but that doesn't mean it is not vulnerable.

Generally speaking with an A4 and street tires, you should be OK up to about 340-370 RWHP. After that is simply a gamble.
